چکیده

We report on the merging between southern polar coronal hole and an adjacent dimming induced by a mass ejection 2022 March 18, resulting in merged region persisting for at least 72 hrs. use remote sensing data from multiple co-observing spacecraft to understand physical processes during this event. The evolution of merger is examined using Extreme-UltraViolet (EUV) images obtained Atmospheric Imaging Assembly onboard Solar Dynamic Observatory Extreme Ultraviolet Imager Orbiter spacecraft. plasma dynamics are quantified spectroscopic EUV Spectrometer Hinode. photospheric magnetograms Helioseismic Magnetic used derive magnetic field properties. To our knowledge, work first spectroscopical analysis two open-field structures. find that become indistinguishable after merging. upflow speeds inside more similar hole, with mixture upflows downflows observable brightening bright points appearance jets further imply ongoing reconnection processes. propose component fields plays important role event, as footpoint switching allows intrude onto boundary hole.

Extension of the Polar Coronal Hole Boundary into Interplanetary Space

White-light measurements made by the SOHO LASCO C2 and C3 coronagraphs and the Mk III Mauna Loa K-coronameter, ranging from 1.15 to 30 have been combined with Kitt Peak daily He I R _ , 1083 nm coronal hole maps, and full Sun Y ohkoh soft X-ray images, to show that the boundaries of polar coronal holes, as determined by measurements of path-integrated density, extend approximately radially into...

Topologically driven coronal dynamics – a mechanism for coronal hole jets

Bald patches are magnetic topologies in which the magnetic field is concave up over part of a photospheric polarity inversion line. A bald patch topology is believed to be the essential ingredient for filament channels and is often found in extrapolations of the observed photospheric field. Using an analytic source-surface model to calculate the magnetic topology of a small bipolar region embed...

A spectroscopic study of coronal dimming associated with a coronal mass ejection

Extreme ultraviolet spectroscopic observations of one coronal mass ejection event are used to examine the onset phase of the eruption. We find significant dimming of million K plasmas in the low corona under the ascending CME, the activation of an adjacent prominence and 2 million K ‘hot spots’ which may be associated with the CME footpoints. In particular, we show that the dimming is due to a ...

Comparison of Coronal Dimming Behavior Between XRT and AIA Data

Carson King 8/2/17 Title: A Comparison of Coronal Dimming Behavior Between XRT and AIA Data Authors: Carson King, Mark Weber, Patricia Jibben A coronal dimming is an event that takes place in the sun’s atmosphere, in which a patch of bright plasma seemingly disappears leaving a dark spot. These events are often associated with other solar phenomena such as flares and coronal mass ejections. Ove...
